Abstract
The lack of integrated services and unstructured information presentation in pet care services creates difficulties for users in accessing information and booking services effectively. This study aims to design the User Interface (UI) and User Experience (UX) of a Pet Care mobile application using the Design Thinking method to develop a user-centered solution. The design process was conducted through five stages: empathize, define, ideate, prototype, and test. Data were collected from respondents consisting of customers and pet care owners to identify user needs and key pain points. The findings were translated into user personas, user flows, and information architecture as the foundation for developing low-fidelity and high-fidelity prototypes using Figma. Usability evaluation was conducted using two methods: the System Usability Scale (SUS) as a quantitative approach and Heuristic Evaluation as a qualitative approach. In the first iteration, the SUS scores were 66.5 for customers and 69,5 for pet care owners, indicating acceptable usability but highlighting areas for improvement. After refining the design based on empirical findings, the second iteration showed significant improvement, with SUS scores increasing to 82 for customers and 81,6 for pet care owners. The Heuristic Evaluation results in the second iteration revealed no new usability issues, with all evaluators assigning a severity rating of 0. These findings demonstrate that the iterative implementation of the Design Thinking approach, supported by usability based evaluation methods, effectively improved the overall design quality and resulted in a highly usable UI/UX prototype of the Pet Care mobile application that is feasible for implementation.
