Abstract
The development of literacy activities and changes in learning patterns within the city of Surabaya have increased the need for literacy facilities and learning spaces that function not only as places for reading, but also as spaces for learning, collaboration, and community activities. The increasingly flexible and digitally based learning patterns require literacy facilities that are able to adapt to various user needs. Therefore, the design of the Library & Learning Center in Surabaya aims to create a modern literacy center that is adaptive, inclusive, and responsive to technological developments as well as community activities. The method used in this design applies an adaptive architecture approach through site analysis, user analysis, and the formulation of spatial, massing, and building program concepts. The result of this design is a Library & Learning Center facility that integrates the functions of a library, learning spaces, collaborative spaces, community spaces, and outdoor spaces as part of the learning experience. The building is designed with a flexible spatial arrangement, building masses that respond to climatic conditions, and facilities that are accessible to all users, including children, the elderly, and people with disabilities. It is expected that this design will serve as a literacy and learning facility that can adapt to change while supporting the improvement of community quality in the city of Surabaya.
