Abstract

Graffiti is a visual art form that is synonymous with the expression of urban freedom and culture. However, in the community there is still a negative stigma that considers graffiti as an act of vandalism. This condition shows the need for educational media that is able to direct teenagers' interest in graffiti into activities that are more creative and positive. This study aims to design a graffiti-themed coloring educational book as a visual learning tool for teenagers aged 16-18 years. The research method used is qualitative with data collection techniques through observation, interviews, questionnaires distribution and focus group discussion. The focus of the study was directed at observing the visual character of graffiti, teenagers perceptions, and the need for relevant learning media. Through this design, it is expected to produce educational books that combine educational and exploratory functions through letter coloring activities, introduction to the basic style of graffiti, and simple application of visual design principles. This book is expected to be an interesting and interactive learning media, encourage the development of teenagers creativity, and help build people's positive perception of graffiti as an art form that has aesthetic and educational values.
