Abstract
The global film industry has undergone significant transformation due to changes in audience consumption behavior, with viewers increasingly preferring to access content through digital streaming platforms. The dominance of streaming services signifies a shift from conventional distribution models toward an integrated digital ecosystem. This study examines the transformation of the global film industry within the contexts of digitalization and the globalization of audiovisual production by employing the Global Film Value Chain framework. Using The White Lotus as a case study, the research demonstrates that the value chain of premium television production is no longer centralized but instead involves a network of actors operating across national boundaries. The core functions consist of creation, producing/publishing, distribution, and exhibition, which are predominantly controlled by HBO and Warner Bros. Discovery as key actors in global production and distribution. Meanwhile, the support functions include the involvement of institutions such as Tourism Authority of Thailand and Thailand Film Office, which provide production incentives, location facilitation, and policy support. The findings indicate that value creation in the contemporary audiovisual industry emerges through collaboration between industry actors and state institutions, further strengthened by multiplatform distribution strategies and the utilization of global filming locations. Therefore, The White Lotus Season 3 represents a network-based model of global production within the framework of the Global Film Value Chain.
