Abstract
The study aims to examine the influence of education level, minimum wage, and Gross Regional Domestic Product on the open unemployment rate in Banten Province. Data were taken from the Central Statistics Agency of districts/cities in Banten Province for the period 2014–2023. The analysis method used panel data regression with the Fixed Effect Model approach, based on the results of the Chow test and the Hausman test. The results show that the level of education from the average length of schooling has a negative and significant effect on the open unemployment rate, which means that the higher the level of community education, the lower the unemployment rate. The provincial minimum wage variable has a positive and significant effect on the open unemployment rate, indicating that an increase in the minimum wage is actually followed by an increase in unemployment due to the burden of increasing labor costs. Meanwhile, the GRDP variable has a negative but insignificant effect on the open unemployment rate, indicating that economic growth in Banten has not been able to absorb the workforce optimally because it is still dominated by capital-intensive sectors. Simultaneously, the three independent variables have a significant effect on the open unemployment rate in Banten Province. These findings emphasize the importance of improving the quality of education, balanced wage policies, and inclusive economic growth to reduce unemployment in the region.
