Abstract

The rapid development of financial technology has led to significant changes in payment methods, particularly through the increased adoption of contactless financial services. This study aims to analyse the factors influencing the use of contactless financial services among Generation Z in Indonesia, utilising the Extended Unified Theory of Acceptance and Use of Technology (UTAUT) Model. The factors examined include effort expectancy, performance expectancy, social influence, perceived risk, perceived advantage, trust, behavioral intention, and use behavior. This study uses a quantitative approach with primary data obtained through the distribution of questionnaires. The research population is Generation Z in Indonesia. The sample size was determined based on the formula by Hair et al. (2021) and included several respondent screening criteria to ensure alignment with the research focus, resulting in 146 respondents who met the criteria for analysis. Data analysis was conducted using the Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modelling (PLS-SEM) method with the assistance of SmartPLS4 software. The research results indicate that effort expectancy, performance expectancy, social influence, and perceived advantage affect the behavioral intention to use contactless financial services. Meanwhile, perceived risk does not affect behavioral intention. Performance expectancy affects trust in using contactless financial services, whereas social influence and perceived risk do not affect trust. Trust does not affect the behavioral intention to use contactless financial services. Behavioral intention is able to influence the use behavior of Generation Z in using contactless financial services. Keywords: Contactless Financial Services, UTAUT, Generation Z
