Abstract

PT XYZ is a company engaged in supplying heavy equipment spare parts for port operations. The problem faced by the company is the occurrence of overstock in several types of heavy equipment tires, which increases the total inventory cost. This study aims to optimize heavy equipment tire inventory in accordance with warehouse capacity in order to minimize total inventory costs. The method used in this research is the Lagrange Multiplier method. The results show that the total inventory cost using the company’s existing method is Rp 134,142,000, whereas the Lagrange Multiplier method results in a total inventory cost of Rp 127,643,500, leading to cost savings of Rp 6,498,500 or 4.84%. The ordering strategy for the period of January to December 2026 recommends ordering 58 units of 10.00-20 16PR tires every 16 working days, 32 units of 11.00-20 16PR tires every 24 working days, and 9 units of 14.00-24 28PR tires every 18 working days, requiring storage space of 24.75 m³ with a total inventory cost of Rp 125,985,500. Therefore, the Lagrange Multiplier method is more optimal in controlling inventory and minimizing total inventory costs while considering warehouse capacity constraints.
