Abstract
Coffee is a plant whose beans are utilized by grinding and brewing them into a beverage that is popular among the general public. Pasuruan Regency is one of the coffee-producing areas in East Java, with an average production of 3,722 tons during the period of 2021–2022; however, this amount is still relatively low compared to other regions in East Java. Low coffee yields can be caused by the presence of plant-parasitic nematodes, which act as pests and lead to a decline in both coffee quality and yield. Coffee plants infected by parasitic nematodes experience reductions in leaf number and branch number, which ultimately decrease coffee production. This study aimed to determine the presence and diversity of nematodes as well as the damage symptoms caused by plant-parasitic nematodes. Plant sampling was conducted in Tegal Kidul Hamlet, Jatiarjo Village, Prigen District, Pasuruan, East Java, at land elevations of 653 meters above sea level (masl), 1,082 masl, and 1,195 masl. The collected samples were then analyzed in the laboratory for identification based on morphological characteristics up to the genus level. The results showed that the genera of parasitic nematodes found in coffee plants were Rotylenchus, Meloidogyne, Radopholus, Pratylenchus, Helicotylenchus, Longidorus, Xiphinema, and Scutellonema Keywords: Nematodes, coffee, pests, arabica coffee
