Abstract

The creative industry is a sector experiencing rapid growth in the era of globalization and digitalization. This sector contributed 7.44% to Gross Domestic Product (GDP) in 2022. It encompasses various fields that integrate creativity, art, and technology. Innovation in the development of creative industries based on local culture has become a key factor in increasing economic added value. For example, several local SMEs have successfully combined tradition and modern innovation to produce competitive global products. Meanwhile, in Gresik city, there are four subsectors experiencing rapid growth: culinary, product design, craft, and fashion. However, there is still no adequate platform for them to develop these activities. This is reflected in the diverse distinctive products of Gresik, which hold great potential but have not yet received maximum attention and promotion. Therefore, there is a need to design a platform for creative industry actors to boost the economy. The design is a Creative Industry Center building in Gresik city that can facilitate creative industry actors and serve as a platform for educational activities through training and workshops. The chosen design method to support the theme and approach is the metaphor method, which uses the characteristics of other objects as analogies for the new object. The building's form is metaphorically inspired by the shapes of damar kurung and songkok, combining traditional and modern elements, thus creating harmony and perfection in the Creative Industry Center building in Gresik. The expected outcome of this design is a building that integrates with its surroundings, providing a new breath for creative industry actors.
