Abstract
Transportation is the activity of moving people and goods between locations, playing an essential role in mobility, economy, and society. Railways are a leading mode of land transportation due to their efficiency, punctuality, and capacity to carry large numbers of passengers and goods. High-speed trains are designed to operate at speeds up to 350 km/h using dedicated elevated tracks free from level crossings, enhancing connectivity and travel efficiency. In Indonesia, the Jakarta–Surabaya high-speed rail project supports mobility, reduces congestion, and promotes environmental sustainability. This study focuses on the geometric and structural design of the high-speed railway along the Pasar Turi–Lamongan route as part of the national railway network development. The design method refers to the Minister of Transportation Regulation No. 60 of 2012 and No. 7 of 2022. Based on the analysis, the rolling stock used is the CR400AF Fuxing, with R.60 rail type (60.34 kg/m), WJ-8 compression spring clips, and continuous concrete sleepers (slab track) measuring 5600×2500×200 cm. The design speed is 350 km/h with an 8000 m curve radius, vertical gradient of <2%, and a maximum rail superelevation of 175 mm with a 40 mm tolerance. The transition of elevated gradient occurs between KM 6+000–7+000 (uphill) and KM 40+000–41+000 (downhill) with a length of 1000 m.
