Abstract

Every year, more than 16,000 couples marry in Indonesia, increasing the demand for Make Up Artist (MUA) services. Interviews with five MUAs and five customers revealed that the process of searching for and booking MUA services remains challenging. Many users experience difficulties in obtaining pricing and scheduling information, communication is slow, and payment and order recording are still done manually. This study aims to design a user-friendly, practical, and structured UI/UX design for a MUA booking application to enhance user comfort and convenience. This study used the Design thinking method, which consists of five stages: Empathize, Define, Ideate, Prototype, and Test. The results produced a prototype MUA booking application with features such as service search, booking, and payment. The first test was conducted using the Heuristic Evaluation and System Usability Scale (SUS) methods. In the Heuristic Evaluation stage, 17 findings were found related to interface issues, covering aesthetic aspects, consistency, system visibility, and compatibility between the system and the real world. In the second iteration, all findings were corrected, resulting in a severity rating of 0. Based on the evaluation results, improvements were made to the interface design. The second test then showed an increase in the SUS score from 70 for customers and MUAs and 71 for admins in the first iteration to 82 for customers and MUAs and 80 for admins in the second iteration. In the third iteration, the SUS method was implemented and resulted in a score of 81 for admins, which falls into the B (“Good”) category.
