Abstract

In the implementation of building construction projects, inefficiencies are still frequently encountered, resulting in various forms of waste that hinder project progress. Activities that consume resources without delivering proportional value are categorized as waste. Therefore, meticulous planning is essential in every aspect of building construction projects by adopting Lean Construction principles to minimize such inefficiencies. This research aims to analyze the most significant forms of waste affecting the Ji’rona Building Construction Project at ‘Aisyiyah Hospital Bojonegoro. The study employs the Lean Construction approach, which classifies waste into seven categories: overproduction, inventory, defects, motion, transportation, waiting, and over-processing. Based on these categories, several indicators of waste were identified and formulated into questionnaire items. The data obtained from the completed questionnaires were tested for validity and reliability, followed by analysis using the Relative Importance Index (RII) method to rank the most significant factors contributing to waste. Further analysis of waste mitigation actions was conducted through a literature review, followed by Focus Group Discussions (FGD) and decision-making using the Pareto method. The results of this study indicate that scattered materials in the project area, which obstruct the movement of other materials, are identified as the most critical factor contributing to waste. In addition, eight waste mitigation actions were identified based on the Pareto analysis.
