Abstract
PG Meritjan is a factory that processes sugarcane into SHS (Superium Hoofd Suiker)–grade sugar with a milling capacity of approximately 2,500 TCD, producing by-products such as bagasse, molasses, and filter cake through sequential operations including cane preparation, milling, juice clarification, evaporation, crystallization, and drying, supported by laboratory analyses of Brix, Pol and juice purity. This study also analyzes the required heating surface area for Juice Heater I in the purification station, as accurate calculation of this parameter is essential for evaluating heat-transfer performance and identifying the operational factors that influence the thermal efficiency of the juice-heating process within the sugar production system.
