Abstract
This study aims to analyze the experiences of students from the Faculty of Economics and Business, UPN "Veteran" East Java, in applying financial management skills to their business operations, as well as how they perceive the relationship between these practices, the values of national defense (Bela Negara), and the attitude of financial patriotism in strengthening the national economy. The study seeks to examine the extent to which financial management practices at the students' micro-enterprises align with the ideological values promoted by their university. This study employed a qualitative research approach, with the coding process and thematic analysis supported by NVivo 15 software. Primary data were collected through in-depth interviews with student entrepreneurs and academics (faculty members) within the faculty. In addition, direct observations of the students' daily business operations were conducted to enhance the credibility and accuracy of the field data. The findings indicate that the students have implemented sound financial management practices through the separation of personal and business cash, bookkeeping using Microsoft Excel, and the establishment of reserve funds to cope with income fluctuations. These business activities are perceived as a tangible manifestation of Bela Negara values because they generate socio-economic benefits, such as the use of locally sourced raw materials and the empowerment of marginalized communities. Regarding financial patriotism, the students further interpret the concept by directing their capital toward environmentally responsible purchasing decisions and locally sourced commodities, while consistently supporting the domestic economy through job creation, fair pricing, and tax compliance.
