Abstract

Wana Wisata Rintisan Selo Ageng “D’ Big Stone Park” is a 2.9-hectare forest conservation area managed by LMDH Wonosalam Asri under KPH Jombang and developed as a nature-based tourism destination. Tourist visits have increased notably from an average of 40 visitors per week in 2021 to more than 140 visitors per week in 2024, indicating substantial economic potential while creating challenges for maintaining ecological balance. This study aims to analyze visitor characteristics, estimate the economic value of tourism using the Individual Travel Cost Method (ITCM), assess the conservation value using the Contingent Valuation Method (CVM), and compare both values to support sustainable management. The research was conducted in February 2025 through a survey of 96 visitors and 30 local residents selected using purposive and snowball sampling. Multiple linear regression analysis shows that travel cost, income, travel distance, and available facilities significantly influence visit frequency. The consumer surplus value is Rp34,883 per individual, with an annual visit estimate of 8,164 visitors, resulting in a total tourism economic value of Rp284,784,812 per year. Meanwhile, the average community Willingness to Pay (WTP) of Rp13,868.53 per person per year generates a conservation value of Rp122,023,423 per year. The comparison indicates that tourism provides a higher economic value; however, conservation remains essential for long-term ecological sustainability. The study recommends strengthening LMDH institutional capacity, regulating visitor capacity, and optimizing conservation-based retribution to maintain a balanced relationship between economic use and environmental protection. Keywords: economic valuation, Selo Ageng “D’ Big Stone Park”, Individual Travel Cost Method, Contingent Valuation Method
