Abstract

This research aims to analyze the application of the Instagram social media platform in managing the Karanganjar Coffee Garden tourism in Blitar, focusing on two main aspects: (1) the effectiveness of using Instagram in increasing tourist attractiveness, destination image, and visitor participation, and (2) supporting and hindering factors in its management. This research uses a descriptive qualitative approach with data collection techniques including observation, in-depth interviews, and digital documentation. Data was analyzed using the interactive analysis model of Miles and Huberman, which includes data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. The research findings indicate that the use of Instagram is proven effective in building the image of heritage destinations and strengthening visitor engagement. The digital communication strategy implemented by the official @de_karanganjar account emphasizes visual storytelling, consistency of style, and active interaction with users through Reels, Stories, and collaborations with local communities. The main supporting factors include the creativity of the management team, the visual potential of the destination, and the support of the digital community. However, management effectiveness is still hampered by limited promotion budgets, changes in Instagram's algorithm, and a lack of digital marketing training for managers. This research provides a conceptual contribution to the study of digital tourism and social media-based destination branding, as well as practical recommendations for destination managers in designing adaptive and sustainable promotional strategies. Instagram has proven to function not only as a promotional medium but also as a means of educating and empowering local communities within the context of inclusive digital tourism.
