Abstract
This Field Work Practice (PKL) was conducted at the Human Resources Development Center for Oil and Gas (PPSDM Migas) Cepu from November 1 to 30, 2024, with the aim of learning the crude oil refining process and evaluating the performance of heat exchanger number 03 (HE-03) used for crude oil preheating. The evaluation was carried out by analyzing the inlet and outlet temperatures on the shell side (solar) and tube side (crude oil), and calculating the effectiveness and efficiency using the Log Mean Temperature Difference (LMTD) method. The results showed that HE-03 had an efficiency of 71.25%, indicating that the unit operates well but requires regular maintenance to maintain optimal performance, demonstrating that HE-03 plays an important role in supporting energy efficiency at the PPSDM Migas Cepu refinery unit.
