Abstract

Based on the Rencana Induk Perkeretaapian Nasional (RIPNAS) for 2030, the number of railway passenger trips in Indonesia is projected to reach 929.5 million annually. This projection highlights the need for increased rail network capacity through the development of double-track lines. One of the corridors yet to be upgraded is the southern Java route, including Jember. The existing single-track system often results in train delays due to prioritization of specific services, such as executive-class trains. The purpose of this study to support infrastructure development and improve the geometric design of the railway line by converting it from a single to a double track. The objective is to optimize railway service performance. The methodology involves secondary data collection, literature review, and technical analysis based on Ministerial Regulation No. 60 of 2012 and Railway Technical Guidelines No. 10 of 1986. The results are applied through detailed engineering drawings. The analysis indicates that the railway segment between Arjasa Station and Kalisat Station falls under Class IV, with a design speed of 112.5 km/h. The design includes concrete sleepers, e-clip fasteners, and High-Density Polyethylene (HDPE) rail pads. The minimum radius for horizontal and vertical curves are 440 meters and 6,000 meters, respectively. Ballast and sub-ballast layers are 25 cm and 53.05 cm thick, with a width of the railway is 10.30 meters. The estimated volumes of excavation and embankment are 1,622,923 m. The drainage system is designed as an open trapezoidal channel with a cross-sectional area of 2.62 m².
