Abstract
The growth of tourism in Magetan has highlighted the importance of providing culinary centers and souvenir shops as supporting facilities that can increase the economic value and image of the region. Culinary centers and souvenir shops not only offer shopping and dining activities, but also provide supporting facilities such as lodging and performance areas to enhance the comfort of tourists. The design is located on the main tourist route of Magetan Regency, which is strategically located with a visual orientation towards Mount Lawu. An analysis of the potential and character of the design location forms the basis for the formulation of the shape and appearance of the building, which combines traditional values with modern needs. With the theme of Weaving the Past, Building the Future, the design of the culinary and souvenir center uses a Reinvigorating Tradition approach as an effort to present local identity in the form of contemporary architecture. The method of linking Past Architecture with Contemporary Architecture is applied by taking reference from the architectural values of the Ancient Godekan Mosque and the Larung Sesaji Sarangan tradition as the main inspiration in the design. The application of the AML-AMK linking method is realized through the use of the form, ornamentation, and spatial philosophy of the Ancient Godekan Mosque, which has been reworked into the mass of the culinary and souvenir center building, while the Larung Sesaji Sarangan tradition is translated into the design through its public space elements. The combination of these two references results in a design that presents continuity between traditional expression and the functional needs of contemporary spaces. Thus, the design of this culinary and souvenir center is expected to become a platform for strengthening tourism while also serving as a means of preserving Magetan's local culture.
