Abstract

Cepu, one of the subdistricts in Blora Regency, Central Java, has great potential as a centre for education and tourism related to the oil and gas industry. The nickname "Oil City" originated during the Dutch colonial period in the late 19th century, with the discovery of oil in Ledok Village. To this day, Cepu plays a strategic role in national oil production, contributing up to 20% of Indonesia's total production. In addition, Cepu also has supporting infrastructure such as PPSDM Migas and STEM Akamigas, which focus on human resource development in the energy sector. However, the development of Cepu's potential as an educational tourism destination related to oil and gas has not been optimal. The lack of facilities such as interactive museums, information centres, and educational tours are the main obstacles. In addition, other tourism potentials such as nature, culture, and local crafts have not been fully utilised. The plan to develop an oil and gas museum aims to educate the public about the history and exploration of oil and gas. This can boost the local economy through new jobs and attract local and international tourists. By combining elements of history, technology, and education, this tourist centre is expected to raise public awareness about the importance of energy while strengthening the branding of the city of Cepu. This development is also expected to support the growth of a creative and innovative education-based tourism sector, in line with the government's programme to improve the national tourism sector.
