Abstract
This study aimed to understand mediated communication conducted by remote workers with multinational clients. In remote work environments, workers communicated through various media intermediaries and faced both technical and cultural challenges in their work. The purpose of this study was to explore how mediated communication was carried out by remote workers with multinational clients in navigating challenges such as differences in time zones, languages, and cultures, as well as in adjusting their messages and communication styles to meet the diverse needs of clients. This study employed Spitzberg’s Computer-Mediated Communication (CMC) theory as a foundation for analyzing the processes, effectiveness, and dynamics of communication that occurred through digital media. The research used a descriptive qualitative method with data collected through in-depth interviews and documentation. The findings indicated that communication barriers, such as time zone differences, technological limitations, and potential miscommunication, were overcome through adaptive strategies implemented by both workers and clients. These strategies included setting flexible communication schedules, clarifying instructions in written form, and using a combination of media to ensure messages were delivered clearly.
