Abstract

In human resource management, companies are required to recruit, develop, and retain quality employees. Nurses are one of the health workers who play an important role in realizing good quality health services. Despite the importance of their role, nurses, most of whom are women, often find it difficult to balance their work and personal lives and experience emotional exhaustion that can affect their performance. Therefore, this study aims to determine the effect of work-life balance and emotional exhaustion on the performance of female nurses at Baptist Hospital. This study uses a quantitative approach. The population in this study consisted of 186 female nurses at the Baptist Hospital in Kediri. Purposive sampling was used as the sampling technique, where sampling was based on criteria determined by the researcher, resulting in 127 female nurses with the criteria of being married. The data analysis technique used in this study was the Structural Equating Model (SEM) with a Partial Least Square (PLS) approach. The results of this study indicate that work-life balance has a positive and significant effect on employee performance, while emotional exhaustion has a negative and significant effect on employee performance.
