Abstract
The Solo-Yogyakarta-NYIA Kulon Progo Toll Road project is designed with an elevated structure crossing the Kronggahan Intersection (West Ring Road Road – North Ring Road – Regency Road) to reduce traffic disruptions below. However, the presence of this structure causes changes in road geometry, particularly in the median width, which affects the existing lane width. The purpose of this study is to analyze traffic performance at the Kronggahan Intersection by calculating the degree of saturation, stopping vehicle ratio, queue length, delays, and the best alternatives for improving intersection performance. This study uses a quantitative approach with direct observation. Traffic data was collected during peak hours (6:00 AM – 10:00 AM WIB, and 3:00 PM – 8:00 PM WIB), on Mondays, Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays. Data analysis used the 2023 PKJI method to evaluate intersection performance. The calculation data results compare existing conditions, changes in road medians, and the best alternatives for each value of the degree of saturation (DJ) and average delay (TR). In existing conditions, the DJ value is 0.96 in the morning and 0.84 in the afternoon with a TR of 83.36 sec/smp in the morning and 61.06 sec/smp in the afternoon. Then, changes in the road median have an increase of DJ = 1.19 in the morning and DJ = 1.02 in the afternoon with a TR value of 418.18 sec/smp in the morning and TR = 140.55 sec/smp in the afternoon. After that, one of the best alternatives was given, namely the 2-phase alternative of no right turns with DJ = 0.39 the highest value in the morning hours and DJ = 0.34 the highest value in the afternoon hours with TR = 5.58 sec/smp in the morning hours and TR = 4.83 sec/smp in the afternoon hours. When the age of 5 years the 2-phase alternative plan of no right turns has a DJ value in 2030 has a DJ value = 1.13 the highest value in the morning hours and DJ = 0.98 the highest value in the afternoon hours.
