Abstract

Transportation is essential for tourists in Bali, which encourages the local community to establish vehicle rental businesses. However, issues often arise in vehicle rentals, one of which is default in rental agreements, such as the pawning of cars by customers of Elite Rent Car, resulting in financial losses. This study analyzes the legal consequences of default and the legal protection measures that can be implemented. The findings indicate that unclear rental agreements pose a risk of disputes. Therefore, it is important to draft agreements in detail, include clauses prohibiting pawning, and tighten rental standard operating procedures (SOPs). In conclusion, strict supervision of rental vehicles and appropriate legal actions are necessary to protect company assets and so that similar incidents would not happen later on.
