Abstract

This study aims to analyze the impact of economic growth, district/city minimum wages (UMK), government expenditure, and investment on labor absorption in the Gerbangkertosusila Region during the period 2014-2023. Although this region encompasses seven strategic areas in East Java with significant economic potential, effective labor absorption has yet to be consistently achieved. This study employs a quantitative approach and panel data regression analysis using the Fixed Effect Model as the selected model. The data used includes secondary data from the Central Statistics Agency of East Java Province. The results indicate that economic growth and investment do not have a significant impact on labor absorption. Meanwhile, the minimum wage of districts/cities and government spending have a positive and significant impact on labor absorption. This condition underscores the importance of strengthening fiscal policies and wage regulations to optimize labor absorption in the Gerbangkertosusila region.
