Abstract
A Sodium Benzoate factory will be established in Java Integrated Industrial and Port Estate (JIIPE), Gresik, utilizing Benzoic Acid and Sodium Carbonate through a Neutralization Process. The primary raw materials include Benzoic Acid (C7H6O2) and Sodium Carbonate (Na2CO3), while Activated Carbon serves as a supporting material for product bleaching. The production process involves three key stages: raw material preparation where Sodium Carbonate is dissolved to achieve a 20% concentration, neutralization where Benzoic Acid reacts with Sodium Carbonate to form Sodium Benzoate with a 99% conversion rate, and product purification which includes separation, water content reduction, crystallization, drying, cooling, and size standardization. The Sodium Benzoate is then temporarily stored in a silo before packaging and warehousing.
