Abstract

The Village-Owned Enterprise (BUM Desa) Sumber Makmur in Sumberejo Village, Wonoayu Subdistrict, Sidoarjo Regency is a recently established BUM Desa that has successfully established several business units. However, a multitude of internal and external factors have impeded its optimal progression.. This study aims to describe the development strategies of BUM Desa Sumber Makmur based on an SWOT analysis. A qualitative descriptive method was applied with data collected through semi-structured interviews, observations, and documentation. Data were analyzed using Miles and Huberman’s interactive model, including data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. The indicate that the strengths include a strategic location with easy access, adequate facilities, the existence of a legal basis for the establishment, and an organized structure. The weaknesses are inadequate capabilities and knowledge of human resources regarding BUM Desa management, the lack of legal recognition, and an absence of capital contributions from the community. Opportunities arise from collaboration and programs with external partners, while the treats include competitors, low pularity, and the limited interest from village communities. Based on the SWOT analysis, development strategies are formulated by combining SO, ST, WO, and WT strategies, with the aim of providing practical guidelines for BUM Desa to develop their businesses sustainably.
