Abstract
With the fast development of technology, Generative Artificial Intelligence (AI) was created to help many people, including those in the creative industry. Even though AI is meant to make work easier, its presence has caused both support and concerns, especially among animators whose some tasks are now starting to be replaced by AI. This study does not aim to decide whether using Generative AI in the creative industry is right or wrong, but wants to understand how animators perceive this situation. Using a qualitative method, this research tells the stories from interviews with animators. The focus is on the use of Generative AI in making advertisements on YouTube, where big companies like Indomie, Coca-Cola, and KFC have started to use AI for their commercial ads. The results show different opinions among animators about using Generative AI in making ads. Their views vary depending on their background, experience, and professional values. Some see AI as a threat to their future jobs because AI can quickly create visuals and might replace work like background animation and coloring. Others see AI as a new chance to improve efficiency and as a creative partner to get ideas, as long as humans are still in control of the creative process. Keywords: Perception, Artificial Intelligence, Animator, Commercial Advertisement, YouTube
