Abstract
Sports has always been an important factor for physical fitness and health. In its development, sports then created modern games such as football, basketball, badminton, tennis, and many more. Sports is also an industry that drives the economy and provides a livelihood for many people. Sports can also bring achievement to certain regions, such as athletes from Yogyakarta (Sea Games, Asian Games, PON). However, the lack of proper coaching and adequate facilities in Yogyakarta limits the development of these athletes. On the other hand, Yogyakarta itself has its own charm with the identity of "Jogja, the Special Region," which attracts many tourists. This becomes an opportunity for a Sports Center building to become an iconic structure that can serve as a landmark to boost tourism and the economy of Yogyakarta. The planning of the Yogyakarta Sports Center with an Iconic Architectural Approach is expected to become a new landmark or icon of Yogyakarta, especially in the field of sports. In addition, this design is also expected to support training activities in specific types of sports for visitors to further increase public motivation to exercise there, improving physical fitness and fostering future quality athletes.
