Abstract

This study aims to analyze the effect of inflation, labor force, Human Development Index (HDI), and minimum wage on the unemployment rate in Tulungagung Regency. The method used in this study is multiple linear regression analysis with time series data covering the period from 2012 to 2022, obtained from the Central Statistics Agency (BPS). The results of the analysis show that inflation and labor force have a significant effect on unemployment, with significance values of 0.031 and 0.020, respectively. This finding indicates that inflation is negatively related to unemployment, meaning that an increase in inflation tends to decrease the unemployment rate. On the other hand, the labor force shows a positive correlation, where an increase in the number of the labor force contributes to an increase in unemployment. Meanwhile, the HDI and minimum wage variables do not show a significant effect on unemployment, with significance values of 0.096 and 0.052, respectively. This study suggests that further research considers more factors that can affect unemployment and includes a more detailed analysis period to provide more comprehensive and accurate insights in formulating effective policies to reduce unemployment in Tulungagung Regency.
