Abstract
Every year, the Trans-Java Toll Road experiences an increase in traffic volume, especially during peak seasons such as Eid and Christmas–New Year holidays, with the Pasuruan–Probolinggo Toll segment being one of the affected areas. The growing number of vehicles is also accompanied by a rise in accidents caused by fatigue from long-distance driving. Therefore, a rest area design is needed to accommodate temporary rest activities for toll road users. Specifically, this design aims to provide facilities for people who are in non-permanent mobility or for users who wish to rest briefly after long travel, all within an architectural space. The rest area design offers comfortable facilities for users to relax and rest as comfortably as possible. The design on the Pasuruan–Probolinggo Toll Road adopts C. Antoniades’ method, which is highly effective in design as it treats nature as an essential element. The result shows that outdoor and indoor spaces with a bioclimatic architectural approach allow users to feel relaxed and attracted. This rest area design adopts the theme Oasis of Harmony, aiming to create a harmonious environment, meet diverse user needs, support economic growth, and offer a positive experience for travelers and the local community
