Abstract
The increasingly complex demands of the workforce emphasize the importance of work readiness for college graduates. Students are required to possess not only academic knowledge, but also the skills and competencies to adapt to a professional work environment. One government strategy to improve work readiness is the Certified Internship and Independent Study (MSIB) program. However, not all students participating in this program feel ready for work. This study aims to analyze the influence of the MSIB internship experience and competencies on the work readiness of students in the Management Study Program at the Veteran National Development University of East Java, the intake of 2021. This study used a quantitative method with a total sampling approach, involving all 47 students enrolled in the MSIB program in the intake of 2021. Data collection was conducted through an online questionnaire and analyzed using Partial Least Squares (PLS) with the aid of SmartPLS software. The results showed that the MSIB internship experience and competencies had a positive and significant effect on student work readiness. Competencies had a greater influence than internship experience. This indicates that the higher the competencies students possess, the greater their readiness for the world of work. This finding implies that, in addition to providing practical experience, universities should also emphasize the development of both technical and non-technical competencies.
