Abstract

This study aims to analyze the influence of herding behavior, expected return, risk perception and financial technology on investment decisions through a quantitative approach. The population of the study were novice investors who were students and lecturers at the Faculty of Economics and Business, UPN "Veteran" East Java. The sampling technique used was random sampling and obtained 98 respondents. Data were collected through an online questionnaire (Google Form), then analyzed using Partial Least Square Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM). The results of the study revealed that herding behavior, risk perception, and financial technology had an effect on investment decisions while expected returns did not have an effect on investment decisions in novice investors at the Faculty of Economics and Business, UPN "Veteran" East Java. The contribution of this study provides new insights for universities as campuses that accommodate novice investors in providing learning facilities related to factors that can influence investment decisions.
