Abstract

This study discusses legal protection for copyright owners against the distribution of films through illegal film provider sites on the internet which causes major losses for copyright owners. The main focus of the study is to analyze the form of legal protection provided by the state to copyright owners of films whose rights have been violated through the distribution of films through illegal sites on the internet. This study also describes the efforts that can be taken by copyright owners of film works in the event of an act that violates copyright to recover the losses suffered. This type of research is normative and descriptive. The results of the study show that the state provides legal protection, both preventive and repressive, to guarantee the rights of copyright owners and the opportunity to take litigation and non-litigation efforts in resolving copyright violations.
