Abstract

The advancement of digital technology has driven various industries, including banking, to continuously innovate in delivering faster, more efficient, and responsive services to customer needs. Bank Jatim, as one of the leading banks in East Java, launched JConnect Smart Branch to integrate banking services with digital technology. This service is designed to provide easy access for customers to independently perform various banking transactions anytime and anywhere. However, the success of this service implementation heavily depends on an intuitive and user-friendly User Interface (UI) and User Experience (UX) design. Therefore, the application of the User-Centered Design (UCD) method becomes highly relevant to ensure that user needs and preferences are the primary focus in the design process. This study aims to analyze how the development and implementation of JConnect Smart Branch technology can enhance the effectiveness and productivity of services at Bank Jatim. Another objective is to identify the ability of JConnect Smart Branch to meet customer needs for easy, fast, and secure services, as well as to examine the contribution of the JConnect Smart Branch Backoffice in supporting process automation, improving service speed, and reducing human error. The UCD method is applied as an iterative approach involving users at every stage of development, starting from gathering user requirement information, designing design solutions, to evaluating prototypes based on user feedback. The implementation of the UCD method in this study consists of four main stages. First, understanding and defining the context of system use by gathering information about user profiles, usage scenarios, and the environment in which the application will be used. Second, identifying user and organizational needs to uncover existing problems and system requirements that must be fulfilled. Third, designing solutions based on user feedback and preferences by presenting initial prototypes. Fourth, evaluating the design against user needs through prototype testing to ensure the level of user satisfaction and application usability. The research results indicate that the application of the UCD method successfully improved the user experience significantly. Based on the evaluation results using the System Usability Scale (SUS), five respondents gave an average score of 78. This score falls under the "good" category, indicating that the application design meets good usability standards. Thus, the UI/UX design of JConnect Smart Branch is capable of supporting Bank Jatim's strategic goals to improve operational efficiency, customer satisfaction, and its image as an innovative bank. The implementation of JConnect Smart Branch also brings additional benefits, such as automating administrative processes that reduce human error, increasing service speed that shortens customer waiting time, and system flexibility that allows customization according to branch needs. In addition, this technology strengthens the professional image of Bank Jatim as a modern and innovative financial institution. With these results, the study provides a tangible contribution to the development of user-oriented, technology-based banking services.
