Abstract

A significant increase in the use of online lending services among Generation Z, particularly in the city of Surabaya, has given rise to various social and economic phenomena that require in-depth analysis. This study aims to examine the influence of understanding OJK regulations, locus of control, perceived ease of use, and lifestyle on Generation Z's decision to use online lending services in Surabaya. The background of this study is based on the high rate of non-performing loans, the consumerist patterns of Gen Z, and the significant role of financial technology in their daily lives. This study employs a quantitative approach using Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) based on Partial Least Squares (PLS). Data were collected from 100 Generation Z respondents in Surabaya who have used online loans, selected through purposive sampling. Data collection was conducted via an online questionnaire, and research variables were measured using a Likert scale based on relevant theoretical indicators. The results indicate that understanding of OJK regulations and locus of control do not contribute to the decision to use online loans, while perceptions of ease of use and lifestyle do contribute to the decision to use online loans. These findings have important implications for regulators, fintech service providers, and the public in educating and guiding the responsible use of online loan services.
