Abstract
In today's competitive business environment, efficient warehouse operations are crucial to ensuring timely product delivery and cost-effectiveness. This study analyzes the warehousing process flow of a distribution center by applying the Lean Warehousing approach to identify and minimize various forms of waste (muda) within the operation. Using tools such as Value Stream Mapping (VSM), root cause analysis, and the 5S methodology, the research highlights inefficiencies related to overprocessing, excessive motion, waiting time, and inventory mismanagement. Data was collected through direct observation, interviews, and time studies across key warehousing activities including receiving, storage, picking, and shipping. The analysis reveals significant opportunities for improvement in layout optimization, material handling practices, and process standardization. Implementation of lean strategies led to measurable reductions in lead time, space utilization, and non-value-adding activities. The findings emphasize the effectiveness of Lean Warehousing in streamlining operations, enhancing productivity, and supporting continuous improvement initiatives. This study contributes to the growing body of knowledge on lean practices in logistics and provides practical insights for warehouse managers aiming to enhance operational efficiency.
