Abstract

Sustainable development in urban areas requires a balance between infrastructure and the environment, one of which is through the provision of Green Open Space (RTH) and requires management of the existing Green Open Space (RTH). Kediri City faces challenges in managing RTH, especially in Brantas Park, due to the lack of community participation and minimal maintenance of facilities. In fact, Kediri City Regional Regulation Number 2 of 2014 concerning Green Open Space Management states that the community is involved in managing RTH in the region. This study aims to analyze the strategies implemented by the Kediri City Environmental, Cleanliness and Parks Service (DLHKP) in managing RTH in order to increase its utilization as an optimal public space. This study uses a qualitative research method using the strategic management theory by Fred R. David which is based on three focus indicators, namely strategy formulation, strategy implementation, and strategy evaluation. The results of the study indicate that the RTH management strategy by the Kediri City DLHKP is carried out by dividing management resources per area in Brantas Park so that each manager in the field has responsibility for their respective areas and provides an appeal to the community regarding the importance of environmental management. In general, the results of the study indicate that the Kediri City DLHKP has managed Brantas Park optimally with the community carrying out many activities in Brantas Park. However, there are still several obstacles, namely the lack of public awareness of the importance of clean green open spaces for their environment. Therefore, synergy is needed between the community and the Brantas Park management so that management can run optimally and there is optimization of the use of green open spaces as public spaces for the community. Keywords: Green Open Space, Management, Strategy, Brantas Park, Kediri City.
