Abstract

Population growth in Indonesia can also be viewed as an increase in the potential labor supply. The abundant tourism sector in East Java can have a positive impact on economic growth and create new job opportunities, not only as workers, but also as managers and business people. Kayutangan Heritage Village is a leading tourism destination in Malang City that has the concept of “heritage” or cultural heritage as evidenced by the increasing number of tourist visits and awards won. Not only that, the increase in the number of MSME players can also be seen as a positive impact of Pokdarwis' efforts in utilizing tourism potential. Pokdarwis seeks to empower MSME players to get support to improve business quality and seek the welfare of MSME players. This research aims to increase the independence of MSME actors in Kayutangan Heritage Village, Malang City. The research method used is descriptive qualitative with data collection techniques obtained from observation, interviews, and documentation. The results showed that MSME empowerment efforts were carried out through providing motivation to sell traditional products and the formation of MSME associations to increase production capacity. In addition, potential strengthening is done through training and facilitation of digital payment systems, and protection is sought through facilitation of business legality such as NIB and P-IRT. However, there are still several challenges, including the lack of formation of MSME associations in other sectors, the absence of posttraining assistance, and the limited training quota available. Keywords: Kayutangan Heritage Village; Empowerment; Pokdarwis; MSMEs
