Abstract

This study aims to test the mediation of digital financial literacy on the influence of herding, money attitude, and financial experience on spending behavior in generation Z students in Surabaya. The research material is based on the problem of spending behavior which is increasing every year while the percentage of growth is unstable or tends to decline. This study applies a quantitative method with explanatory research which is intended to explain the position and relationship and influence between variables in depth. Data collection was carried out through a survey using a questionnaire as a research tool. The population in this study were all students who were included in generation Z in the city of Surabaya, with a sample of 400 students using a saturated sampling technique. Data analysis was carried out using SmartPLS. From this study, the results are: (1) herding behavior contributes to spending behavior. (2) money attitude contributes to spending behavior. (3) financial experience contributes to spending behavior. (4) herding behavior contributes to spending behavior through digital financial literacy. (5) money attitude contributes to spending behavior through digital financial literacy. (6) financial experience is unable to provide a significant contribution to spending behavior through digital financial literacy.
