Abstract

Financial literacy has an influence on an individual's financial decision-making, which then impacts subsequent financial decisions. An individual's low financial literacy affects the way they act towards their finances, such as their decision to take out installments or loans. Online lending is an issue that is often caused by low financial literacy. The 26-35 age group is the most vulnerable age group. Therefore, media that contains complete information about online lending is needed to help overcome low financial literacy. An illustration book is then chosen as an educational media that contains information about online lending, To design the illustration book, data was collected through interviews, questionnaires, and observations. Interviews were conducted with pinjol experts, illustrators, and pinjol users/victims. Questionnaires were distributed to users and victims of loan sharks to find out demographics and as a reference for the preparation of book materials and illustrations. Observations were made to find out more about the design of the book and its illustrations. Based on the data collection and processing methods obtained, this illustration book about pinjol is entitled "PINJOL: Hope or Burden?". This book contains information about pinjol in a concise manner, such as understanding, roles and regulations, legality, and so on. This illustrated book does not just present information formally, but is packed with real stories of users or victims of pinjol. This book is available in two versions, namely print and digital (e-book) considering that the target audience is not all interested in printed books and vice versa. So, two versions are provided to fulfill the need for information related to pinjol. Financial literacy is an important aspect of daily life. An individual who has good financial literacy will be able to determine, consider and make financial decisions appropriately. This will lead to further financial decisions, good financial decisions will lead to financial well-being. Whereas bad financial decisions can lead one to a vortex of further bad financial decisions, like digging a hole. Therefore, financial literacy and financial literacy are very important for individuals. Keywords: online loans, financial literacy, education, illustrated books
