Abstract
Education has a very important role in shaping quality human resources, not only academically, but also spiritually, emotionally and socially. Surabaya as a large city with a predominantly Muslim population requires educational facilities that are not only based on Islamic values, but also in line with the times. In facing the era of globalization and rapid modernization, a school design approach is needed that is able to answer the needs of today's generation. This research focuses on designing an Islamic School in Surabaya with a contemporary architectural approach that emphasizes form innovation, open spaces, and the use of modern materials to create a learning environment that supports comfort, creativity, and Islamic character building. The contemporary architectural approach was chosen because it reflects freedom of expression, openness, and sustainability, and is able to accommodate the values of Islamic education in a contextually relevant layout. The aim of this research is to design an Islamic school that not only functions as a place of learning, but is also able to respond to the challenges of urbanization and technological advances through an adaptive and visionary design approach.
