Abstract
Production machines play an important role in maintaining the quality and efficiency of output, so they require special attention and regular maintenance to extend their service life. PT. XYZ is one of the companies engaged in the cement industry in Indonesia, with a production capacity of 29 million tons per year. The production system implemented is a continuous process, where all machines must be in optimal condition so as not to disrupt production and avoid potential losses. Based on the observation results, the production process with the highest downtime rate occurs in the packer area, with the Roto Packer 638PM1 machine as the largest contributor to downtime. Currently, the company is implementing a corrective and preventive maintenance system, but the implementation of preventive maintenance is still not optimal. Therefore, this study aims to propose a preventive maintenance system with a modular design approach and ABC (Always Better Control) classification. The combination of machine criticality assessment and the level of use of each component is expected to increase operational efficiency, reduce the risk of production disruption due to the scarcity of important components, and reduce inefficient storage costs. Through the application of this method, the total maintenance cost obtained is IDR 771,782,456, or IDR 406,113,204 lower than the current cost of IDR 1,177,895,660. With an efficiency reaching 34.47%, this method is considered feasible to be implemented by the company.
