Abstract

Empowerment Hub is designed as a skill training center in Malang City to support people with disabilities. This initiative responds to the lack of adequate facilities, which limits access to proper training and employment opportunities for persons with disabilities. Existing infrastructures also often fail to meet standards of accessibility and safety based on multisensory architectural principles. This gap presents a significant challenge in helping people with disabilities develop independence and integrate into society. The design aims to create a training space that is inclusive, comfortable, and encourages social interaction, while also utilizing the potential of nearby educational areas to foster collaboration with local institutions. The project adopts a multisensory architectural approach that enriches user experience through visual, auditory, tactile, and olfactory elements. Through the Contextual Design method, the building is designed to align with its environment and address user needs effectively. The final design includes training areas and supporting facilities that enable individuals with disabilities to grow, gain skills, and adapt within society. All spaces are planned to be highly flexible, accessible, and user-friendly. Empowerment Hub provides a tangible solution to the lack of inclusive training facilities. It empowers individuals with disabilities by offering an environment that enhances their physical and mental well-being. Moreover, its presence in Malang encourages active involvement of people with disabilities in social and economic life, promoting greater equality and inclusion.
