Abstract

This study examines the mediation effect of work stress on the relationship between job demands, turnover intention, and employee performance at PT. Empat Putera Utama Bersama Surabaya. The research is based on the issue of high job demands resulting from significant client demands. Additionally, turnover intention is a serious concern for the company and requires further evaluation. This study employs a quantitative method with an explanatory research approach to analyze the positions of each variable and their interrelationships. Data were collected through a survey method using questionnaires. The study population consists of employees and supervisors at PT. Empat Putera Utama Bersama, with a total sample of 55 employees, selected through a saturated sampling technique. The data were analyzed using SEM-PLS. The findings indicate that high job demands can enhance employee motivation and performance when properly managed. Employees with turnover intention still strive to perform optimally, aiming to leave a good impression and achieve targets. Job stress mediates the relationship between job demands and performance, as environmental support helps employees manage stress. However, job stress does not mediate the relationship between turnover intention and performance, since external factors have a greater influence, while a supportive work environment encourages employees to stay.
