Abstract

The implementation of Field Work Practice (PKL) at the Surabaya City Department of Industry and Labor aimed to improve the operational efficiency and quality of Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) through the utilization of technology and data analysis. The need for accurate and structured data has emerged alongside technological advancements and increased market competition. This study focuses on increasing the number of SMEs in Surabaya that hold the Domestic Component Level (TKDN) and Indonesian National Standards (SNI) certifications, which are essential for enhancing the competitiveness of local products. The research method consists of four main stages: data planning, data collection, data analysis, and policy implementation. Data planning involves identifying problems and data needs. Data collection is carried out through routine surveys and access to official government websites. Data analysis includes data cleaning, visualization, and classification using the K-Nearest Neighbor (KNN) method. Policy implementation involves conducting technical guidance sessions and facilitating free certification registration for SMEs in Surabaya. The analysis results indicate that a significant number of SMEs in Surabaya still lack TKDN and SNI certifications. Based on these findings, the Surabaya City Department of Industry and Labor formulated a policy to provide technical guidance on the importance of certification and facilitate free certification registration. The implementation of this policy is expected to raise awareness and understanding among business owners, as well as to encourage the improvement of product quality and competitiveness among SMEs in Surabaya. It is recommended that regular coordination with all stakeholders be maintained to ensure the sustainability and quality of policy implementation
