Abstract

The people of Mojokarang Village still rely on rice as their staple food, despite having abundant local food resources. The lack of awareness about food diversification results in limited dietary variety, with low utilization of local carbohydrate sources, protein, vegetables, and fruits. This poses a risk of nutritional imbalance and underutilization of local food potential. This study aims to: (1) identify household food consumption behavior based on knowledge, attitude, and practices; (2) analyze food consumption patterns through the proportion of food expenditure; and (3) assess the level of food diversification using the Household Dietary Diversity Score (HDDS). The study involved 48 farming households selected using a simple random sampling method. The results indicate that household food consumption behavior in Mojokarang Village is relatively good in terms of knowledge; however, attitudes and practices regarding food diversification remain suboptimal. The average proportion of food expenditure reaches 56%, with low consumption of non-rice foods. The level of food diversification is relatively high, with 58% of households consuming more than six types of food per day, although rice consumption remains universal (100%). These findings highlight the need to enhance awareness of food diversification through education and the utilization of local food resources. This step is crucial to promoting more diverse, nutritious, and balanced consumption patterns to support sustainable food security. Keywords: food consumption, food diversification, HDDS
