Abstract
This study aims to identify leading sectors, analyze changes and shifts in economic sectors, and analyze and compare their relationship with employment. The data used in this study is secondary data for the period 2012-2022 obtained from the annual report of the East Java Provincial Government, BPS East Java Province, and BPS Indonesia. The analysis methods used in the study include Location Quotient (LQ) analysis, Shift Share (PR, PS, DS), and Simple Linear Regression using SPSS 27 software. The results of the LQ analysis show that East Java Province has two leading sectors that play an important role in supporting economic growth. The results of the Shift Share analysis (PR, PS, DS) show that the shift of economic sectors in East Java Province is dominated by two sectors. The results of simple linear regression analysis show that the leading sector partially has a significant effect on labor absorption in East Java Province. In contrast, the non leading sector does not show a significant influence on labor absorption in East Java Province.
