Abstract

Education is very important for everyone's future. One of the important components in school education is communication. In the learning process, student motivation is one of the important factors for academic success. One of the communication techniques commonly used by teachers is instructional communication. Instructional communication is suspected to have a significant effect on students' learning motivation. This study used a qualitative research method by conducting interviews with relevant parties, such as the principal and all teachers. Based on the research conducted, instructional communication by teachers plays an important role in the success of the learning process of students with slow learners. Teachers at SD Muhammadiyah 16 Surabaya are required to simplify instructions, provide slow and repetitive explanations, and use visual aids and very simple methods to help students absorb and process information more easily. Such communication is crucial in supporting the motivation, confidence, and social and emotional development of slow learners so as to improve their learning outcomes.
