Abstract

Excessive concentrations of carbon monoxide (CO) and PM10 can have a significant impact on public health. This study analyzed the impact of meteorological and traffic volume related CO and PM10 levels on public health on Menganti-Surabaya Highway. The study was conducted at 3 sample points for 4 days and the data results will be analysed by correlation test, multiple linear regression test, exposure analysis, and risk characteristics. Based on the results of the analysed data, the highest CO and PM10 concentration values were 9720.6 μg/m³ and 144.7 μg/m³, respectively, and the lowest CO and PM10 concentration values were 5826 μg/m³ and 110.8 μg/m³, respectively. The CO and PM10 gas concentration values are below the national quality standards. In addition, humidity and volume of traffic also have a directly proportional effect on CO and PM10 concentrations, while air temperature and wind speed have an inverse effect on CO and PM10 gas concentrations. It was also found that the results of the RQ<1 calculation, which can be concluded that exposure to CO and PM10 concentrations is not yet at risk of causing carcinogenic health effects to people on the Menganti-Surabaya Highway.
